The Poriraa team for the Otaki meeting is being sent north on Saturday. A cablegram announces the sale of the Positain colt Naxbory for 3000gns. In the Spring his owner, P. Burn, refused ICOOgns. lor the colt, who subsequently contracted influenza, and had to be spelled. Recently, he won the Adelaide Cup of 1500 SOTS., and also got .£IOOO from the drawer of one of Tatiersall's sweeps, so he did well to hold on to the colt. While at Adelaide he was offered 2000 gns. for the colt, but replied that he wanted double that sum for him. Apparently he met the would-ba buyer halfway. Tho Manawatu Hunt Club will hold its first totalisator meeting at the Awapuni course on July 21. The programme of events is as follows:—Waikanae Hunters' Hurdle Handicap, 50 sovs.; one mile and three-quarters. Foxton Maiden Flat Handicap, 50 sovs.; six furlongs. Manawatu Steeplechase Handicap, 125 sovs.; , about three miles and a half. Kiwitea 1 Bracelet Handicap, of SO sovs.; two miles. 3 Levin Hack Handicap, of 50 sovs.; one - mile. Ronald Cameron, (he ex-New Zealander, who rode The Parisian to victory in the Melbourne Cup in 1911, was a passenger to Wellington by the Moana yesterday. He was accompanied by his cousin, Mr. J. M'Donald, who was in Melbournewhen ho received the sad news of the sudden death at Wanganui of his father, Mr. J. R. M'Donald. Both young men , took passage by the first New i 7 taland steamer, and went on to levin by yesterdny*s afternoon train.
