ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

The annual meeting .of, the Association Football.Referees! Association was held in the Y.M.C.A. building last evening, Mr. B. L. Salmon occupying .tho chair. The annual report and balancesheet were adopted, and the election of officers resulted as follows President, Mr. F. O'Connell; vice-presidents, Messrß. B. L. Salmon and E. Windley; hon. secretory, Mr. J. A. Leddy (reelected); hon. treasurer, Mr. B. Mabin; management committee, Messrs. C. Fordham, R. S. Lithgow, H. S. Claughton, A. Webster; delegate to N.Z.R.A., Mr. R. S Lithgow (re-elected); appointment board, Messrs. B Yeoman, F. O'Connell, W. Auld; examination board, Messrs. H. Yeoman, C. Fordham, B. L. Salmon, F. O'Connell, R. S. Lithgow; hon. auditor, Mr. A. G. Barnett. It was resolved, that the general meetings should start oil May 3. The annual report stated that trie past season proved a very pleasant one, and lectures on' the rules of the game were given at the Boys' Institute. Out of seven referee.; who sat for the New Zealand Referees' examination five passed. The call of the Empire took_ the following members from tile association:— J. B. Paton, J. H. Pye-Smith, J. M. Wilson, W. Matheson, C. K. Dick. The secretary added in his. report that the conduct of every referee during tho past season was excellent. Several teams will be engaged in practice matches this afternoon. They will play on Association Park and Miramar grounds, and' some keeii games are expected.
