NEW EXPERT'S VIEWS. Dr. Basil Adams, the Wellington Hospital Board's tuberculosis medical officer, who took up bis duties bero on April 1, reported to the board yesterday that ho had recently, been on a tour of the South Island/ and in the course of his report he drew some comparisons between Wellington and southern facilities for fighting the white plague. One disadvantage Wellington was under, he stated, was the crowded state of residential areas in the city. Tim Seddon annex (Wellington) was unsuitable for the class of case taken, to it. and much Jess suitable than the Coronation Hospital (Christchurch).- The utility of the Otaki Sanatorium was, he added, somewhat detracted from through the distance being rather far to convey certain serious cases.
If the board permits, Dr. Adams will take up his residence in or near Wellington, ajid make frenuont visits to Otaki.
The chairman of the board (Rev. W. A. Evans) remarked that the report indicated, that the right man was at the head of the campaign against concumption.
Temporary offices have been, fitted up at No. 4 Marion Street for Dr. Adams. Arrangements are being mado for establishing at these offices a dispensary for diseases of.tho chest, and authority is to be given for advertising for the services of a sister for this dispensary at a salary of £150 per annum. .
