THE SOUTH AFRICAN REVOLT
HERTZOG WHITEWASHED
(Rec. 'April 22, 9 p.m.)
'Cape Town, April 22. During the debate on the Rebellion Inquiry Committee's report, Mr. J. X. Merritnan, who was a member of the Committee, entirely acquitted General Hertzog of complicity in the rebellion. Though Hertzog's speeches were primarily responsible, if a conspiracy existed, that conspiracy was between Van Rensburg and'Do la Ray.
De la Roy suffered from .religious mania, which Van Rensburg worked on; Maritz was a traitor to both Rides; Beyers was sjne, but excessively ignorant, and unfit for his position as Com-mander-in-Chief.
