PRELIMINARY TRIAL OF THE REBELS
SOUTH AFRICANS IN GERMAN UNIFORMS (Rec. March 28, 3.30 p.m.)' Johannesburg, March 27. The preliminary examination of Kemp, Vannensburg, and forty-six other rebels, oil a charge of treason, has opened. Most of the accused are wearing German uniforms. A witness and Vannensburg identified a number of the accused as being amongst the participants in the fight at Upington on January 23, and dotailed the movements of the rebel commando which entered Gorman territory, where they were equipped with rifles and German uniforms.
