N.Z. MODERATE LEAGUE
The Central Executive'of the Ney Zealand Moderate League met yesterday afternoon for .the purpose of, considering the best means of carrying out the programme .propounded by the recent conference of delegates from branches throughout the Dominion. A subcommittee was 'set up to deal with various suggestions arid report to a further meeting. ' The question of the advisability of establishing military wet canteens was discussed at considerable length, and the following . resolution was carried: —"That in view of numerous suggestions received by the committee of the New Zealand Moderate' League, and reports of the steps taken in the camps in Egypt and elsewhere, a deputation wait upon the.Minister of Defence recommending that, with a view to promoting temperance in our expeditionary forces, a wet regimental canteen supplied with liquor of tested, quality, under due regulation, and with due- restriction on individual consumption as enforced in European camps, should bo established in New Zealand,"
