GAOL FOE UNDESIRABLES. 1 Margaret M'Hugh, who was doomed to be an idle and disorderly person, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment; and Alfred Cook (an associate) was sent to prison for six months as a rogue and vagabond.' . " John Walsh, a man with a considerable "record." was sentenced to one month's imprisonment for having been found at night in the yard of 187 ,Vivian Street. The constable who discovered Walsh. on • the premises was informed by the man that he was a nephew of the occupant, but this story was false. 'Walsh had just arrived in tlio city from Pajmerston North, after serving-, a month's imprisonment; ' PERSONAL VIOLENCE. Francis Wesley and Karl Johnson wero. each fined 10s. for having, been guilty, of threatening behaviour to each other in Courtenay Place. Sureties of the peace were asked for ugainst Thomas I'lanagan by Georg<? Richard Farley, on the grounds that as. eaults had been committed, and that further attacks were feared. Eventually, it was decided that Flanagan should pay costs and give an undertaking not to interfere with Farley again. CHARGES OF THEFT. Tho theft of £2 belonging to Agnee Mercer was charged against J. J. Brown; who was remanded till August 24. Sydney Kenny was remanded on bail till August 28 on a charge of theft of £3 os. 4d., belonging to Hart Langdon. \ ■ OTHER CASES. The pwner (W. E. Lutz )m two bulldogs which attacked Joseph Henry Bry-. ant in Willis' Street some months- ago was fined £1, with costs 9s. ' .'., On a'charge of having sold adulterated milk, Arnold Davios was finod £1. with costs 17s. 6d, : For insobriety, James Walter was fined 10s. ■ , .. Carl. Anderson was finqd £2 for bavins used obscene' language. The alteriiativo was fixed at one month's imprisonment, and fourteen days was allowed in: which to find the money. • Henry Brown was fined £2, with witnesses' expenses £5 18s., and Court costs 95., for having trespassed on the Trentharn racecourse and failed to leave after'being warned to do so.
