PROVISIONS COVERING MEMBER- ... SHIP. (By Telegraph— Fress Association.) Auckland, December 21. Tlie rules accepted with tho registration of tlie lien' union at Iluntly contain the following provisions regarding membership and relation to the Arbitration Act:—"The union shall consist of an unlimited number of workers of any occupation employed in or about tho Taupiri coal mine excepting the engineers, engine-drivers, firemen, and winchu" oil. Any such worker (other than those excepted) who shall satisfy the union that he is not in any way connected with or subject to the control of the Federation of Labour or any similar organisation opposed to the registration of industrial unions under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act. 1008, and its amendments shall bo eligible for membership, and by joining the union shall be deemed to have agreed to abide by the rules of the union: (a) A Union may affiliate or federate with organisations registered under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act or any Act passed in substitution therefor, but in no ease with organisations not registered: (b) subject to the provision of Sub-clause (c) of this rulo no member shall join or belong to any other labour organisation nor to any other union unless and rntil this union has affiliated or federated with the aforesaid organisation or union, and nnv member who disregards this rule shall be expelled from tho union by tlie executive, (c)' No member of any other union shall be allowed to join this union unless and until ho satisfies tho oxeeutivo that ho has given notice in writing to such other union discontinuing his membership of that union. This rulo shall not he repealed or amended unless a secret ballot has been taken of all financial members of the union, and the consent obtained of tho whole of such financial "members. Subject to the provisions of tho Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act and its amendments'* on all matters referring to (a) disposal of union's funds, or (b) of registration, it shall be obligatory to the union to take a secret ballot "of all financial members nor shall any motion in favour of cancellation of registration of the union bo deemed to be carried unless four-fifths of the financial members of the union record their votes in favour of such resolution. Should any member of the union bo dismissed from bis employment for taking a lehdina part in any matter connected with the union, members arc pledged to stand bv him provided that tho oxeeutivo approve of tho action which ho has taken. Tho executive may grant compensation to such members for tho loss of time through his action. Tho union shall not be dissolved unless and until a secret ballot has been taken of all financial members of the union and the consent obtained of at least four-fifths of such financial members."
