LOYAL METHODISTS.
ADDRESS TO THE GOVERNOR. A deputation from the Now Zealoni Methodist Conference waited on his Er< collency tlie Governor at Government! Houso yesterday morning, and presented an address expressive of the devotion and loyalty of tlio Church. Tha deputation consisted of the Rev. S. Lawry (president), the Hon. C. M. Luke. M.L.C. (vico-president), the Rev. J. G. Chapman, and the Rev. W. S. Potter. The address, which was, published in yesterday's Dominion, was printed on silk, and bound in book form. His Excellenoy replied as follows:—"I thank you for your oordial congratulations and expression of loyalty which j'ou have made to me as the "re* presentative of King Gcorgo from tha members of tlio Conference of the Method dist Church of Now Zealand, recently o» sembldd in Wellington. I join in youi' prayers that our Gracious Sovereign may long be spared to rule over a contented and united. Empire. Her Exoelloncy an<j myself deeply appreciate your whole* hearted allusions tc ourselves. It will bo our earnest endeavour so for as it lies in our power to do all we can to further t)ie interests of these islands both during our residence in this Dominion, and when .we shall. return to tho Motherland. To all who have the welfare of the British Empire at heart it is especialy gratifying to find that those who are now occupying tlio leading position in the Overseas Do. pendencies have not forgotten what their fathers, have dono for the Empire in days ;of old, and moreover, not only those of the present generation, but also thoso who will follow them."
