MASONIC GRAND LODGE.

0 annual session begun. (By Telegraph.—Frets Association.) Auckland, May 14. The Masonic Grand Lodge session opened in'tho Town Hall this morning,-repre-sentatives from all over the country, numbering UOO (including tho local brethren) bcins present. M.W. Bro Maurico Thompson, presided. Tho report stated that, for the year en'uFd, tho funds of the Grand Lodge had grown by X2GSS, and slow amounted to ioU.OHO. Tho cash balances under various headings were:—General fund, «£io7o; fund of benevolence, .£3207; widows and orphans and aged -Masons tund, ,£.0,b..G; j circular appeal funds, .£1696; repiesentation fund, JM77. The most useful branch of Grand Ladgo work was that carried oil by meanst of tho widows and oiphans anfl Masons' fund. This was employed in providing annuities, for aged Masons, and ior cho widows and orphans ot others. Last year tho number ot annuities (ot varying amount) was 2S, and tho aggregate sum ,£635. There is now a margin of about JB2OO a year lei I tor the creation of new annuities. Ino Auckianu district was tho largest contributor to the voluntary sums raised during tho year for the annuity fund, wuli a total of ,£329. The next highest districts were: Wellington JL'323, Canterbury AIM, Otago iiiß. and Hawke's Bay ■£'.!-• Out of the fund ot benevolence £329 had been u.snen&cd during tho year. lhc Board ot Benevolence lias also raised suius ot Xm, and JSIBO, by th«« circular appeals to lodges, in aid of particular cases. , , The reports of the various boards wero considered and adopted, the on y material amendment being tho rejection ot a proposal of the Annuity Board to raise the agu at wlvch members shall bo ellcible tor annuity from 50 years to bO.
