CARNIVAL PAIRS TOUBNAiCHNT, There ara 74 entries for tho Carnival Paire Tournament, which is to occupy the attention of 148 bowlers in Wellington to-day. _ Tho Wellington Bowling Centre considered that It was inouinbent on tho bowling fraternity to do what they could to help beautify the recurves of the city, and eo arranged a. pairs tournament, which is to last all day to-day and on Easter Monday. Every -pair will be engaged. ,m sis sixteen-heau games (four to-day and two on Monday morning), which will leave Monday afternoon for the play-off between section winners nnd section ties. The 74 pairs havo been divided into nine sections, and each section is to remain on tho ono green today, changing on Monday, as already announced. ■ The secretary of the centra (Mr. J. 3. Roberts) will be located at the •Welling-' ton Club's pavilion, and all green umpires are requested to telephone the results in each round, as soon as possible after their conclusion. , All the entrance fees (sb. nor pair) are to bo devoted to the Carnival fund.
PETONE CLUB. A progressive game of bowls was, played on tho Petone Green yesterday by the members of the olub. It consisted of sir games of eleven heads. Filth and Coles tied for the first place among' the skips, Forth being declared tho winner on tna aggregate number of points scored on the first two heads. In tho leads Allan and Head scored each five games, Allan Winning on points. , TOURNAMENT AT KELBURNE. Most of tho city greens were occupied by bowlers yesterday. It was perfcot weather for play, and those who participated voted' it one of the best days of the year. ~ At tho Kclburno green a progressive pairs tournament was held, commencing at 10 a.m. There wa3 a good muster or members, and several visitors participated in the play. Five games of 11 heads each were played. The winning skip was Kirker, who went through without a loss, and P. M'Coll, put up a similar performance as lead. The little tournament was a thoroughly enpyablo one. TO-DAY'S PAIRS TOURNAMENT. In tho pairs tournament, whioh is to ba played on Saturday, tho first round will start at 9 a.m., tho second round at 10.45 a.m., ths third round at 1.45 p.m., and tho fourth round at 3.45 p.m.
