THE WHAU CANAL SCHEME.
EMPOWERING BILL LIKELY. (By- Telegrapn-— Press Association.) Auckland, December 22. It is- probable that a Bill will be introduced into Parliament next session giving power to the Auckland Harbour Board to undertake the construction of the Whau canal, connecting the Waitemata and Manakau harbours. The promoters have Mr. Masaey's verbal assurance that the scheme will receive his nersonal support. If the Bill is carried, it is estimated that the work will.be completed within four years from the present timo.
