RENCONTRE WITH A SHARK.

KEPOBT FROM PETONE. Three ladies, Mrs, Phillips, Miss Eose, and Miss Martin, are reported to have had an unpleasant experience while bathing off the Petone beach last Friday evening. The bathers were in about i feet of water when a shark of large dimensions was seen approaching them. Mrs. Phillips, with great presence of mind, beat the water, and this 6eems to have effected the desired object. When the ladies were interviewed, they stated that they had no doubt the fish was a shark, and it oertainlv appeared as if it was making to attack them.
