FINE MOTOK. CAR PERFORMANCE.

A fine motor-oar performance was. achieved by the dusty, mud-6tained' "Ford" motor-car which arrived at the Government Buildings at noon yesterday, after travelling the distance between Wellington and Auckland and back again in two days seven hours. The trip was a remarkable one, inasmuch as the car was the first petrol-driven vehicle to travel to Auckland by way of the Main Trunk line, which is a particularly hazardous route in tho present condition of the roads. The car, which returned to Wellington by the Taupo-Napier route,, was driven by Mr. H. Richards, who brought with him as passengers Messrs. G. F. Hendry and E. Gilling of the staff of tho Auckland' "Weekly News." The actual running time of tho' car on the down trip, nfter deducting all stops, was 23 hours 30, minutes, equal to an average speed of 21 miles an hour (the distance covered being 490J miles).
