ATHLETIC SPORTS.

OLYMPIC COUNCIL. CHAMPION'S EXPENSES, A meeting of the Olympic Council for New Zealand was held l.vst night. There were present: Messrs. A. Alarryatt (chairman), B. Guise, A. D. Bayfiold, E. E. Hammond, G. S. Hill, F. Wilton, F. 1. Wilson, -B. ft. Keesiup, and. A. Davies. In connection witli the trouble that occurred, over Malcolm Champion's expenses, correspondence was rend from London and Sydney. The chairman said tho matter was as yet inexplicable, but Captain Hornimsm, jnanager of the team, had. arrived at Vremautle, and they would have something to go upon when his report was received. It was decided to hold over further consideration of the matter until Gaptaiii Horniman's report comes to hand. A letter was received from fche New Zkiland Rowing Association stating that tho association could not see its way dear to make a lory for an Olympic fund as suggested by tire council. The secretary of tho New Zealand Sports Protection League wrote stating that Dr. Collins had been appointed to confer n;ith the chairman regarding assistance that tho league was prepared to give in scouring the Dominion ade([uato representation at the next Olympic Gaines '"The*chairman was authorised to confer with Dr. Collins. The annual meeting was fixed l lor November 27. and tho secretary was Instructed to draw up a report. • Mr Hill again brought up his motion for securing separate representation, but Mr. Bayfield moved as an amendment that the matter bo deferred until after the conference between tho chairman and Dr. Collins (referred to above). The amendment was carried after brief discussion.

MOTOR-CYCLE CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Wellington Motor Cycling Club (late New Zealand Motor Cycle Club) was held in the Y.M.C.A. rooms last evening. Mr. Daniel presided. The annual report and balancesheet were read and adopted, and tne minutes of the last special meeting wero also adopted. The secretary pointed out the necessity for the welfare of the club of starting a reserve fund, and Mr. Nimmo moved that the sum of £a be deposited in the G.P.O. Savings Bank. The- following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr. Daniel ; vice-presidents, Messrs. C. G. ohenvood, P. J. M'Donald, and W. H. Nimino; captain, W. H. Nimmo; vice-captain, Harold Plimmer; management committee, Messrs. Sherwood, Plimmer, Nimmo, Kankine, Matthews, Daniel, Lewis, Burns, Tanner, and .M'Donald; secretary, C. D. Bridge; treasurer, W. L. Buraess.
