REPORT CONTRADICTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Christchurcli, October 16. ~.i Regarding the trouble among the officers' of the- steamer Kaipnra, it was ascertained on inquiry at the head office of the New Zealand Shipping Company to-day that when the Kaipnra was discharging at Auckland last month complaints were made as to the- officers' long hours. On receipt of these complaints rrrnngements were made at once to relieve the officers by engaging somo hands to do some of their work. Since then nothing further had been heard of the matter, and no difficulty had been experienced when the steamer was at Wellington, Lyttcltou, or Dunedin.

[Wβ have received a private telegram stating that the officers of the Kaiparu contradict the statements mnde in the Dunedin telegram published in yesterday's issue.]
