WELLINGTON PRESBYTERY.

A special meeting of the Wellington Presbytery was held at St. John's Church last night, the Rev. .B. Hutson presiding. The Rev. Wm. Scorgie, of Slornington, Dunedin, and the Rev. J. Kilpatrick, of Green Island, were' present and associated with the Presbytery. Tho Rev. Win. Douglas called attention to the sudden death of Sir. Thomas Sl'Gregor, of Slaranui, representative elder for tho Evans Bay charge, a brother beloved and helpful, whose loss tho Kilbimio people feel keenly. On the motion of the Revs. Shirer and Comrie, it was resolved to place on record tho Presbyterv's sorrow at the sad occurrence, and express its deep sympathy with:the bereaved widow and family, and other relatives of tho departed in their sore affliction, and prays that God may comfort and sustain them and sanctify their great trial to them. The Presbytery also expresses sympathy with the congregation at Kilbirnie in the loss of a loved and valued elder.

, Tho following were, appointed to represent the Presbytery at the approaching Assembly, as voting members:—The Revs. Comrie. Hutson, Inglis.'l'aterson, Shirer, and Gibson Smith, with elders from the sessions of St. John's. Kent Terrace, Evans Bay, Petone, and Lower Hutt. ' ' The Rev. W. Shirer reported that the congregations at Island Bay were encouraging, nnd the whole work, was going on satisfactorily under the guidance of Sir. Harvev. Sir. Shirer also stated that the congregation at Seatoun had now no place of meeting except in private houses, and it was resolved to appoint a committee to confer with the people and approach the Now Century Fund for assistance. The Rev. 'Gibson Smith reported that good progress was being made at Wadestown, under tho charge of the Rev. SI. B. Harris. Plans for a man.se at Upper Hutt wero laid on the table by the Rev. J. Sl'Caw, and wero approved by the Presbytery.
