I From Our Special GbrreipondenU.) 0 SHANNON, Tho recently formed Druids' Sport Committee have arranged to hold sports here on Labour Day. A sum of JC4O is to bo allotted as prize-money. Tho following office-bearers have been elected: —Patron, Mr. F. W. Venn; president, Bro. T. Lind; vice-presidents, Bros. W. H. Gunning, M. Moynihan, T. J. Callighan, J. W. Batchelor, G. Law, Gibson, S. W. Carter, G. Hook, E. Jones, L. M. Jenkins, W. H. Fitchett, R. Webb, Messrs. H. Greig, A. Seifert, G. N. Stephenson, Hall, Jones, Law, Osbome, H. Mowbray, C. Ross, H. Seifert, G. Seifert, and Dr. Adams; handicapper, Mr. Collingwood; starter, Bro. E. J. King; referee, Mr. G. Seifort; judges, Dr. Adams, Bros. Fargher, Carter, and Vickers; time-keeper, Mr. G. Lambert; treasurer, Bro. Bilderbeck; joint secretaries, Bros. J. E. Caiman and C. H. Gardiner. OTAKI. A pleasant gathering was held on Tuesday at thp Otaki State School, when a shooting tournament (miniature rifle range) and a progressive euchre party were the features. The gathering was promoted for the purpose of raising funds for thn school library. The trophy for the best shot was awarded to Master Eric Williams, who secured 23 out of a nossible 25. In the euohre tournament Mr. C. L. Cook and Master Winton Brown, secured first prizes. _On Tuesday evening the Rev. E. B. Blackmore was entertained by a number of friends and presented with a puree of sovereigns. A number of speakers testified to Mr. Blaokmore's sterling qualities and expressed deep regret at his projected departure. On the eve of his departure from Manakan, Mr. Dugald Thomson wao entertained at a smoke concert on Monday evening. Mr. M'Bain occupied the chair, and there ware visitors from Napier, Levin, and Palmerston. The toast of "The Guest'was proposed by Mr. M'Bain, who Conveyed to Mr. Thomson' tho regret felt by all at the departure of himself and his family.
