A STRANGE STATEMENT.
WHY A MINISTER RESIGNED. By TcleeranH—Press Association-CoDyrieUt (Rec. September 4, 10.15 p.m.) Brisbane, September 4. Mr. Grant, late Minister for Education, who announced his resignation a few days ago, explained in the Legislative Assembly that he had resigned his portfolio because of the Government's decision to stop the construction of a railway to a norr coalfield which would benefit a colliery in which he was interested. He was determined not to place Himself in a position where people could say he had used his Ministerial office to benefit himself.
