LEAGUE OF THE LEFTHANDED.
There is an organisation in Xew York comprised exclusively o£ fat men, with a president and committee duly elected,, and now there is a prospect of an organisation limited to left-handed people, or ".south paws," as thev arti often called • in the United States. One afternoon recently left-handed parsons, by special request, attended a service in the Orange Methodist Church, Xcw Jeisey, and heard from the Eev. Dr. "William i'rye, the. pastor, ivho himself is left-handed, that all "south paws'' are genittse-s. Dr. i'rve preached from the text, "But when tiio children of Israel cried unto the Lord, Hie Lord raised them up a deliverer, Ehud, the sonof Gera, a Benjamite, a man left-" handed." "Most great geniuses, though not all," said tho pastor, "are left-handed. There is a real reason for it. Tho reason people are right-handed is' that the left lobe of the brain is more developed. There is a distinct advantago in. having tlm right lobe of the brain more developed. If that side is more developed you «iv" left-handed. Left-handed people are riglit-brain.nl people, and out of the ordinary. They are apt to do interesting or " unusual * things. Do you knew that, among tho great baseball pitchors, the smartest are left-handed? Those 'south paw' fellows are in the ratio of six to fifteen of tho great plovers. I linve conceived a plan for organising left-handed folk into a fellowship. The sign of lecognjtioii is to shake with the left hand." Dr. Frvo cays he has gathered data that will strengthen every assertion lie lias already made, as well as a lot of new ones. By general circularising lie has got into touch withall. the left-handed people in New .lorsev and it is hoped to have an annual parade each year, followed by a banquet.
