COW-TESTING.
GROWTH OF THE MOVEMENT. Three years ogo tile first eow-tosting association was formed with 800 cows. The next season three additional associations were started, with a total of 4158 cows. Last year five associations were in operation, under the direct control of the Department, representing over -WOO cows. Besides these, a number of associations were carried on by farmers themselves, ii nrl .8(100 cows were tested !>v ilicin, making a total of 13,000 altogether. The movement, according to Mr. D. Omklie, .Dairy Commissioner, is going on satisfactorily, and rpiito a number of new associations will ljo in operation for the coming season. "Tho Agricultural Department intend; to assist this Vork as much as possible, and an officer can be sent to anv district to explain how the work should lie conducted. "For a good, healthy association, the cost to the farmers is from 2s. to 3s. pir row. according to the number of cows offering."
