THE CHEESE INDUSTRY.

THE RISE IN CHEESE.

A GOOD YEAR. * l (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Pahiatua, August 5. The exceptionally high prices ruling for cheese in the Homo markets during the past season, have proved highly remunerative to co-operative cheese "companies manufacturing in this district. The annual report of tho Mangnramarama. Company shows that the amount of cheese manufactured during 1911-12 season was approximately 7.1 tons, valued at ,£1157 llis. Id. The previous season SS tons wore produced,'realising. ,'£43-11 18s. Gd., thus, although last season's output was 15 tons le-s than previous years, tho total cheese -realised are J2184 '2s. 2d. less. In the esso of the Mangatainoka Copipany, last season's output totalled 207 0 tons, as compared with 101 tons for the previous season, an increase of 11! tons. The actual increase from a financial standpoint, however, lias- been much greater, the total for 1911-12 being J;ll,oGti 10s., as compared with .£78.57 Is. Id. for liilfl-11, an increaso of ,4:3209 Ss. 2d. For the 19.10-11 period, the price paid for butter-fat was lljd. psi\ lb. Last season Is. "Htl. per lb. was paid.
