Captain and Mrs. Atkinson will succeed Captain and Mrs. Calcott in charge of the local corps of the Salvation Army. Tho latter leave for their new homo at Oxford, South Island, on Wednesday next. OTAKI. The monthly sitting of the S.M. Court took place yesterday, Mr.lA. D. Thomson presiding. Tho following cases were heard:—Police v. Ross Cooper, failing to pay a-maintenance order towards his son, now in the Blind Institute, at Auckland. Ordered to pav Bs. weekly. Inspector Seed (Mr. Meredith) v. C. Tritt, for working a horse unfit for work. The evidence given stated that the horse was covered ill sores, was lame, and had'been (logged with a supplejack. A fine of .£2. costs £2 75., was inflicted. Several Native parents were proceeded against by Mr. Dinecn I (trjianfc inspector) for failing to send their children to school. Each was fined 25., and costs ss. A civil case, W. P. Carter v. W. H. Carter, claim £i 135.. was also heard, defendant being ordered to pay the amount at the rate of £1 per month.
