GREEN ISLAND STRIKE.
LABOUR FEDERATION MAY INTERVENE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Dunodin, May S. A meeting of representatives of tho miners in the Green Island district wns held to-night to consider the position in regard to tho dispute nt Christie's mine. A resolution was unanimously passed pledging tho meeting to stand rolicily l>y the moil on strike, and to take every stop necessary to get relief, for tho men concerned. Mr. Itiild, secretary of tho Otago Coal Miners' Union, states that if tho dispute does not very quickly como to a head, the New Zealand Federation of Labour will lake charge, and all the men in tho Green Island district would stand by their advice, and if they said "down tools" there would not be a pick raised. The employers arc standing by luoir determination not to go hack on their position. '
