MEN'S BROTHERHOOD.
ANNUAL MEETING OP MEMBERS. Tho annual meeting of members of the Wellington City Men's Brotherhood was held in tho Continental Cafe Inst night. The Hev. ]3, 0. Jilamires presided, and there were about 80 members present. ■ Tho annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. Mr. E. Tregear, who was among those present, passed a vote of thanks to the officers for their splendid work during tho year just closed. The fact that they were all busy business men did not deter them from devoting a great deal of time to tho work of the Brotherhood. It had, however, always been his experience that when you wanted anything done you had to go to the busy men. The id!o men never had any time to do anything. (Laughter.) The vote of thanks was carried by acclamation. Mr. E. Arnold. .T.P., vicepresident, replied on behalf of the officers. Fraternal greetings were received from the Wanganiii Brotherhood. It was decided lo send greetings tn the New Plymouth Brotherhood, about to be formed. ;
Considerable discussion took place, on the question as to whether or not., (ha Sunday afternoon meetings should ho open to both men and women, or to men only. 11 was eventually decided that the. meetings should bo for men only, with the first Sunday in the month for both men and women. ]t was decided to establish a literary and (lebntiii!? society in connection with the Brotherhood. During tho ovcniiiK musical items were contributed by Messrs. Hoyd, Creniniell, Westerby, Stewart, and Glee. The election of officers resulted <w fol-lows:—Vice-president, Mr. E. Arnold, J.P.; hon. secretary, Mr. J. Lewis; hon. treasurer, Mr. W. C. Kurd; assistant secretary, Mr. Joseph Ddwson; registrar, jlr. J. Kershaw; wolcomers and scouts, M. C. Pee 3 and M. J. Dowson; Musical Committee, Messrs. W. C. Burd, A. H. Boyd, and T. C. Xewton. According to the articles of the constitution, the position of president has to be filled by tho superintendent of the Central Mission.. The position thus falls for another year on the Rev. E. 0. Blnmires, whose effort" on behalf of the Brotherhood were referred .to in verv 'fluttering tonus by several .'[x-nkere.
