MUNICIPALISE THE FERRIES?

HARBOUR BOARD SAYS "YES." (Br Telegraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, April 2.3. The Harbour Board carried a resolution to include in' the 1912 Empowering Bill a clause- giving the board power to acquire and control the , ferry services of this port. Tho chairman (Mr. Gunson) explained to the board that there had recently been considerable trouble with the ferry companies. Though large sums had been expended in their interests the companies were dissatisfied. Experience had led him to conclude that the time had come when the board should acquire permission by legislation to take over the ferries as the municipalities had permission to resume tramways.

.. Mr. Alison, manager of the Doronport Ferry Company, and Mr. Bradney, M.P., strongly opposed the motion, but they were the only dissentients.
