THE STABBING AFFAIR.

AN ARREST.

In connection with the stabbing sensation which occurred in Culm Street on Friday evening, a young man named Joseph Daniel O'Neill has been arrested. Late on Friday night tho detective branch of the police force obtained information which caused them to decide upon O'Neill's detention. O'Neill was arrested at his place of residence ad 6 o'clock on Saturday morning by Detectives Lewis, Andrews, and Cameron. Ho is a single man, and was boarding in Crawford Lane, off Ingestre Street.

Tho injured man is reported to be doing woll in the hospital, and his wounds are not regarded as dangerous. Though ho is generally known as Harry Sandow, his name is Herman Henry Bather. Tho name Sandow, it is said, was assumed for professional use. Later in the morning O'Neill was taken before Mr. W. 6. Hiddcll, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court, and was charged with having assaulted Rather, so as to cause him actual bodily harm.

Chief-Detectiveßroberg stated tEat between 5.30 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday O'Neill and Rather had had a quarrel in tho Alhambra Hotel, and that in tho course of the altercation Rather had been stabbed in the ear, in tho neck, and in the nose. Rather had been sent to tho hospital, and tho hospital "had reported, that day that the wounds were not reckoned to be 6erious. Detective Broberß asked for a remand. His Worship remanded O'Neill till Wednesday. His Worship to O'Neill i "Do you ask for bail?"
