CITY MAYORALTY.

MR. D. M'LAREN WILL STAND. Mr. D. M'Laren, cx-M.P., has definitely announced that he will contest the city Mayoralty at the forthcoming election. Mr. M'Laren told a reporter on Saturday that he had been requested to stand, not only by tho united branches of the Labour party in Wellington, but by various representatives of other classes of people who -are not identified with the J/tibour movement. Mr. M'Laren entered the City Council in ISOI, and sat as the only Labour councillor for about six years. He has been at all times an advocate of the niunicipalisation of various city services, including the tramways, and has served upon practically the whole of the City Council committees. 'For some years he has been chairman of the Libraries' Committee. He will open lis campaign shortly.
