A VENTURESOME VOYAGE.
TfIKEE DAYS IN A CANVAS CANOE. (By Tclccraph-Prcß3 Association,! Auckland, February 8. A hazardous ocean cruise, from Auckland to Cuvicr Tsland has jupt been made by Mr. C. 13. law, a young Englishman who recently came lo Auckland from the Malay Stales. Mr. Law was in a twelvefoot' canvas canoe, with mi oilier provisions than a small tin of biscuits, and voyaged the l.">fl miles from Dcvonport in about three days, during which ho had nothing to drink. His original objective was Uiiwmi Tsland, aboul III) miles up Ihe Hauraki Gulf. He passed ICiuvau without knowing il, and the wind blew him oil' lo sea, driving the frail canoe by good ■ fortune down lo Cuvier Island, about twenty-five miles east of Cape Colville. Mr. Law returned by Ihe Monowai, which the lighthouse-keepers signalled for him.
