FIFTH ANNUAL PICNIC AT - TR.ENTHAM. The Dominion' fifth annual "wayzgoose" was held .it the Trenthaiu racecourse (kindlv lent for the occasion liy Mr. A. E. Whytc, secretary of tho Wellington Racing "Club) on Saturday. Beautiful weather prevailed, aud there was a representative attendance from all departments. Among those present were: Messrs. J. Iluthie (chairman of directors), C. Earle (editor), and A. Blanton (manager). During the day an interesting sports programme was gone through, end there was fun galore for the children. Mr. Hancock won the esteem of the voung folk for the kindly way in which he arranged their sports programme, and his Father Christmas-like benevolence in proportioning the toys and sweets. Mr. Cimiuo, of Begg and Co., Manners Street, kindly lent an np-to-date gramai'hone, which rendered all the latest selections. Messrs. \V. W. Todd and Mosham acted as judges, and IFr. D. Morgan was haudioappcr and starter. Tho committee desire to thank the following for prizes, donations, etc. :— The Dominion - directorate; Messrs. John Duthie, A. Blautou, C. Earle, W. \Y. Todd, N. D. Francis, A. C. Maysmor, Hardie Shaw, N. E. Burton, Cowan and Co., S. Brown, Ltd., and A. E. Whyte. The following are tho results:— Mechanical Handicap (100yds.).—Whitelaw, 3yds., 1: Tew (syds.), 2; Kirby (9yds.), I). Walts scr., Warner Syda., Hastall syd?., G. Thompson 6yd=., and Hancock ilyds. also started. AVhitelaw won handily, the others close together. Commercial Handicap ; (100 yds.). -H. King, syds., 1; D. Boyle,'scr., 2; Con.'iur, Cyds., 3. Sampson lyd., and Brown iijds. also started. Ring made good use ol his handicap, and won by about two yards. Literary Handicap,' 100 yards.—-A. W. Dunkley. scr.. 1; H. Jenkiusan. Gvds., 2; W. J. 11. Heynoldty 4yds., 3; T. "Glover, 2yds., i. Dunkley quickly caught the limit man mid won fairly'easily. Dominion Office Championship, 220 yards.—D. Boyle, 1; J. Brown, 2; H. King, 3. Sampson, A. Blanton, Keynolds, Hancock, Kasvall, Watts, and Tew also started. Boylo went to the front at 150 yards, and comfortably holding his own won by about 5 yards. Ladies' Walking Kacn.—Miss Oliver, 1 j Miss Glover, 2. About a dozen ladies competed, and good heel and too work was shown by the prize winners. Ladies' Sunning Kaco.—Mrs. Rastall. 1; Mrs. Sampson, 2; Miss Tustin and Miss Glover, 3. Open .Kaciv 100 yards.—Blanton, syde., 1; King, 2.vits., 2; Boyle, Iyd., 3. Fifteen starters.
