Messrs. Dalgcty and Co., Ltd., report having held their opening KaV> for the New Year at Kkctahuna yesterday. A fair entry of ail classes of stock was yarded, and sheep met with a ready sale, all linos of which were disposed of at auction at highly satisfactory prices. The following is a list of the prices realised:—Shciop— Full-mouth, empty owes, 7s. 6d.; two-tooth wethers, ICa. 4d., lis., to lis. 9d.; two find four-tooth wethers, 12s. to 12s. 3d. Storo cows made £3 155., old cows £1 65., yearling steers £1 17s. 6d. to £2 In. cd., yearling heifers £2 ss. 6d., pureb'red Jersey bull £10 it's. On Friday, January 5, at my Waiwaliar lho yards, I had a good yarding of stock and a good attendance. All cattle mot with good competition, showing an im» provsmeut on former prices. Bidding throughout was brisk for most lines, especially for storfc and for* ward cows. A good number of eighteenmonths cattle wore sold duriDg tliu uay at improved rates. A corn-fed, big fat cow met with very keen compstition, and realised £7 tPj. On Wedneodoy at Stony Kiver I had only a small yarding and attendance, consequently business during the day was not so good as at former sales. I had several pens of weaners yarded, but only the better and stronger calves were sold. An exceptionally nice well-grown line of Shorthorn weaners was yarded, aud they were a credit to their owner, •Mr. W. Greenway. Tiicse mot with good competition, and realised £1 17s. Cd. for the steers, aud for the balance, which, were really firstclass and well-grown and good-conditioned, realised £1 11?. Ordinary weaners wero quoted and realised about £1 Is.; yearling to eightoeu-months heifers, £2 ss. 6d. to £3 ss. 6d.; two-year heifers, £3 125.; twoyear st-c-U's, £3 10s.; store cows, £3 Bs. 6d.; heifers and calves, £3 10s. to £3 14s. 6d.; fat cows, £4 125.; grade bulls, £3 to £6 4s. 6d.

On Tuesday, at my fortnightly sale in the Stratford yards, I had a good yarding, cattle coming forward in excess of ndrciised numbers. Bidding throughout the day was good, and with one exception cvsry lino was cleared during tlie day, mostly under the hammer, at improved rates.
