"PAKOWHAI" ESTATE.
\ SOLD BY DALGETY AND CO. Tho keen demand existing for first-class land in small areas was evidenced by tho exceptionally large number of buyers who attended the salo at Hastings on January 10, of tho subdivision of tho "i'akowliai" Estate. The sale was conducted at Hastings by Dalgety and Company, Limited, and Mr. J. It. Ipniuze, on behalf ef the owners, and before the advertised time of starting it was seen that buyers had como in large numbers from far and wide to embrace tho opportunity of purchasing part of what is undoubtedly tho finest land in the Dominion. Unfortunately, tho announcement made in the local papers on the day of tho salo by the ilawke's Bay -Rivers Board (hat they intended to take under tho Public Works Act twelve of the sections, affecting 41G acres, considerably militated agrfinst the sale. Notwithstanding this, however, the fixture was without doubt (he most largely_ ottomled land sale yet lie'.d in Hawke'sßay, the seating accommodation of the King's Theatre being taxed to its utmost.
