NO-LICENSE LEAGUE.
A meeting of the Wellington City and Suburbs No-License League was held last evening. It was resolved to reiterate the. protest of the No-License party against, tho three-fifths majority roouired for the carrying of No-Liccnsc anil National Prohibition as unjust, undemocratic, and intolerable. Complimentary reference- was made to the services of Miss Weymouth and Mr. Bliss, who acted as assistant organisers during the campaign. If. was resolved to convey the. thanks of tho league to tho members nf the. police who had assisted at the children's procession and at the Town Hall meetings. A prominent man was chaffing a. certain Town Councillor about the doings of tho council, and said: "I'd sooner put up as a candidate for a lunatic asylum than put up for the Town Council." "Well, you'd stand a much better chance of getling in," dryly responded the Town Councillor. Heart! Nt a municipal meeting: "T think there ought to be a bath in every house," said n working man. The chairman agreed; it would ho most useful, and would add t.u the cleanliness of the people. "Aye, it would," remarked the. son nf toil; "and, ln-siiles, it would be handy to wash the dog in."
