MAORI LOCAL OPTION.
YESTERDAY'S POLL. (By Association.) Gisbornc, December 19. The first local option in respect of the Maori race was held to-day in the Takihimu Maori Council District, in common with similar polls in llorouta OVaiapu), Arawa (Kotormi), and Xorlhern Wairoa Maori Council District. The. poll was taken for tho purpose of deciding whether liquor shall or shall not bo sup. plied to Maoris of the districts mentioned. Tho question was: Shall liquor be supplied to Maoris? Ths poll resulted:— Takitnmu: Yes, 562; no, 232. Horouta: Yes, 356; no, 550. Arawa: Yes, 413; no, 131,
