FEILDING CROPS DAMAGED
RECENT ROUGII WEATHER. According to the Feilding correspondent of tho ".Manawatu Daily 'rimes." an authority who has just. concluded a tour of tin* district surrounding JViUling states that it is absolutely'impossible to estimate I lie damage to crops by the recent bad .weather. In some parts of tho district extensive fields of oats and other crops have boon levelled. The stem was so thin on account of the vigorous spring growth forcing the plant that it wan unable to stand" up against tho very heavy winds. Hundreds of acres have been ruined, both in general crops and grass, and unless the blustering winds dio olf there will be no chance of recovery. Late crops should be more favourably treated bv the weather; but in any case tho position is a serious one for the farmer, and tlie outlook a-5 regards feed with substance is not at all bright. One farmer considers that all round tho damage to crops, fruit, etc., during the past couple. of months would run into hundreds of pounds.
