SCHOOL FLOWER SHOW.
The committee of the Clydo Quay School has devised a very pretty manner of concluding the work ot the year. This took the form of a flower show', in which the artistic idea of the scholars was encouraged and ii love of flowers and their cultivation was fostered. The show was opened at 3 p.m. yesterday in the school, when appropriate speeches were made by Mr J. G. W. Aitken (who opened this show), Mr. W. Allan, l!r. W. T. Grundy (headmaster), and Mr. David Kobertson (chairman of committee). All the speakers congratulated the scholars on tho enthusiastic manner in which the proposal had been taken up, and the creditable, showing made, lie hope was expressed that tho show would bo made an annual affair. The following is a list of the prize-winners:— Specials— - ■ Best decorated table, Olive Clark. Best collection of vegetables, /i a Moss. Best bouquet of flowers, List nek . ones. licet It button-holes, C. Kishwoit h. liest foliage plant, Daisy Donnelly. Other prize-winners were:—Olive Clark, Noil Goldie, Zita Moss, Hilda Lvans, Listriek Jones, Phillis Barrett, brira IV-che. Orla Duthie. C. Kishworth, Leslie M'Girr, lim Foley, A. Lonman, .l.Hopkirk, 1.. Wcstv.ood, Minnie Grey, Vivian Hopkivk. Jessie /.ard, Leslie Baldwin. Mabel Hook, UaHcr Barclay. Gladvs Dixon. G. Townsend, Daisy Donnellv, "W. Robinson, J. M'lvinnon. Ho Deck, Flo Vanbor.-sum, and Cecil lort. Aliss Murray acted as judge of tlio floral decorations; Mr. Jacobs oi vegetables and roots.: and -Mr. Maekay of pot plants and cut flowers. Interest was added to the show Inst evening by a concert, the items for which were provided by the scholars.
