OTAKI.
The wind of the past 'week or so has played havoc with fruit trees, many of which are blackened almost beyond recognition. Tho young fruit has suffered considerably, and may now be seen lying, only too plentiful, under tho trees. Had the weather been favourable tho crop would have been a record one. Potatoes have also suffered. Miss Sealy,' matron of tho Otaki HosEital, has resumed duty after a month's oliday, spept in tho South Island. , Miss M'Slahoh. leaves on "Wednesday for' Australia, where her home is. She will probably return to New Zealand.. At tho Police Court yesterday morning two young men— Chas. Bell, jun., and Wh'ata Hakaraia—were fined and £1 respectively for driving at an excessivo pace. 1
