CHRISTCHURCH EAST.

Some uncertainly still exists as to the candidate who will contest the second ballot With Mr. Thacker, who topped tho first ballot poll in Christchurch East. According to the returns thus far published, Mr. Hunter (Lab.) secured 2315 votes, and Mr. Diivey (G.) 2357, bnt tho final returns may alter tho position, and it is possible that Mr. Hunter instead of Mr. Davey may contest the second ballot with Mr. ■ Thncker. The question will probably bo definitely determined to-day.
