"VOTE OUT WARDISM!".

LEVIN LABOUR MOTION. (Br Teleeranh.—Press Association.) Levin, December 11. A meeting of the committee supporting Mr. Robertson, the Labour candidate, for Otaki, was -held at Levin on Saturday,.'and passed a resolution condemning the action of Mr. Mack's comihitteo (Parnell) in deciding to supnort Sir John Findlay. The resolution called on Labour'throughout the Dominion to vote out Wardism.

There is keen excitement regarding tho second ballot here. On good authority it is state<l that a prominent Oppositionist in Wellington lias instructed a local official that the Opposition candidate must support Mr. Robertson at tho second ballot. It is further reported that Mr. Massey favours Mr. Field in preference to Mr/Eobertson. Endeavours will now be made to got tho Leader of the Opposition to give a' definite statement to his loyal followers. ■ STATEMENT. BY MR. MONCKTON. Mr. C. A. W. Monckton writes:—"Sir, —The 'Otaki Mail,' in reporting what I said when ■ returning thanks to those electors who voted for me, also reported what I did not say. I did not ask the electors to support Mr. Field on tho second ballot. I acknowledged the manner in which the contest, as between Mr. Field and myself, had been fought out on his side, but my whole candidature was against tho Ward maladministration, ■ and it would have been ludicrous for me to have invited support for Sir Joseph Ward. When I saw how tho 'Otaki Mail' had misrcportcd me I at once called upon the proprietor to correct ' his report, which he promised to do. Furthermore, I at once wired my x committees that Mr. Robertson was' pledged to vote against the Ward Government on a no-confidence motiou, and therefore tho Reform party ought to accord Mr. Robertson its support for this election. The first thing to ba dono to get Reform is to get rid of the party at prosent in power.—C. A. W. Monckton."
