PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
*. _ The fortnightly meeting of the Petone Borough Council was held last evening, tho Mayor, Mr. J. W. M'Ewan, presiding. Others present were: Councillors Truoinan, Lodder, Cox, Brocklebank, List, I'iper, and Burridge. Tho Wellington Laud Board wrote stating that .£2O 7s. Id., being thirds and fourths from tho survey district of Koro Koro, was available for expenditure in the council's district. Tho board asked that tho council should supply a schedule of works upon whioh it desired that this sum should bo expended. The matter was referred to tho engineer. Tho Tottn Clerk was instructed to make inquiries as to the liability of the council to erect fences on the northern boundary of tho waterworks section. Lieutonnnt Hollis, on behnlf of the Petone Drill Shed trustees notified refusal to comply with the council's request to-erect conveniences at the drill shed. Tho letter was received. Permission was granted for picture exhibitions to be held at the Oddfellows' Hall and the Palaco Theatre on Christmas Day.
the question of. the rebuilding of a factory in Peel Street (destroyed by fire) was referred to tho municipal corporations' solicitor.
Iho engineer reported that the efforts mude to ascertain the cause of the Io«s of pressure, in the water mains between the reservoir and the town had to far been unsuccessful.
