THE SECOND BALLOTS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch, December 8. Thfero is a possibility of a second ballot in Christchurch South. Mr. Ell has only polled 19 votes in excess of tho absolute., majority of valid votes, and 4a.absent voteTs' permits were issued. In addition thero were 19G informal votes cast.
There is also some likelihood of the second ballot in Christchurch East being l«tween.Thacker and Hunter, instead of between, TU:icker and Dnvcy. Of tho total number of absent voters' permits issued the. returning officer has received seventy-three, and it is possible these may contain sufficient votes for Mr. Hunter to place- him sreond on the poll. A scrutiny of the Christchurch- East roll and recount takes plnco to-morrow.
