MOTOR RELIABILITY.

A TWENTY-FOUR-HOUR RUN. A twenty-four-hour motor reliability trial was commenced at 7 o'clock yesterday evening under tho auspices of the New Zealand Motor Cycle Club, and will be completed to-night. Tho outward route is from tho Wellington Post Office to Patea, via Shannon, I'almcrston North, Bulls, and Wanganui, and the return journey by way of Wanganui, Bulls, I'oston, and Shannon. The approximate distance of tho run is 370 miles. . Prizes - are to bo allotted., as^, under:—A silver medal to the rider-adhering strictly to schedule time. Bronzo medals to tho riders arriving at every "control" within the margins allowed, viz., three minutes early and live . minutes late. Certificates to tho riders hot losing more than 50 marks. The Daniel Cup and a gold medal to the privato owner (being a member of the N.Z.M.C.C.) making the best performance. In the event of the rider making the best performance losing more than 50 marks, no medals will bo given, but certificates will bo issued at the discretion of tho judges. There were thirteen entries in all, and eleven started. Tho first competitor got away at 7 p.m., and the others followed at intervals of two minutes. The starters were Messrs. L. R. Barber, N. A. Irvine, F. G. Bowden, E. G. Gilbert, R. S. Bender, J. Beck, V. A. Alexander, E. G. Bender, R. Burn, W. Draflin, and A. R. Malloy. Half an hour is allowed at Levin for supper,' and two hours in Pntea for breakfast. The return journey will be commenced at 9 o'clock this morning, and tho competitors aro due to arrive back at tho Post Office at 7 o'clock to-night. The highest speed allowed is 20 miles an hour in daylight, arid U miles an hour at night. By means of secrot controls at various places along tho route excessive speed will be prevented.
