ATHLETIC SPORTS.
CRICKET. THE ATTRACTIONS TO-DAY. Neglecting tho uncertainties which ere tho charm of the game, tho best of tho cricket matches to-day should bo thoso between East A and North, and between Central and South, both to bo played at tho Basin Reserve. East A will probably in the end get the decision over North, but the first try out ought to hare some interest. On the other wicket it is just possible that South will reproduce some of their last Saturday's exceptional bowling form, and Central will need to play their best cricket if this happens. The other matches are Petono v. East B, to bo played at Pefcoue, and Hutt v. Victorii College, to be played at Hutt.

Boys' League. The following are the Wellington Boys' League fixtures for to-day:—
Senior Grade.—Y.M.C.A. v. Institute, at New-town Park, Telegraph v. Donald M'Lean, at Dnppa Street.
Junior Grade.—Mount Cook v. Kelburne, at Basin Reserve; iTrimtv r. Muritai 8.C., at Muritai Reserve; Y.M.C.A. v. St. Ann's, at Anderson Park; Marist Bros. v. Institute, at Newtown Park.
STAFF OFFICERS V. COLLEGE BOYS. An interesting cricket match was commenced yesterday on the Wellington College ground, between teams representing the senior boys of tho college, and tho Headquarters Staff of the New Zealand Defence Forces, and will be continued today. Tho boys went in first and compiled 193 runs before they were dismissed. The officers' team totted up 92 runs. Mathewson, in the first innings of the Collego team, rattled up 78, not out, while Hmdmarsh, with 31 runs, and Joplin (25 runs), each made a good showing. Among the military people, Captain Robinson made 43 runs.
