"TWENTY-TWO POINTER."
SEEN IN THE WAINUI VALLEY. It will no doubt be interesting to sportsmen to learn that, a few days ago, a magnificent "22-pointer" red deer stag was seen in tho Wainui Valley below the reservoir.
Questioned as to the number of points, tie two mon who saw the stag stato that there was no mistake about the number, as they wero within a dozen yards of tho deer, and counted the points of its antlers two or threo times. The finest head ever secured in Mow Zealand is assumed to bo a 22-pointor, now hanging in the Wellington Club, but the head, other than the abnormal number of points, is far from perfcct, whilst the one soon at Wainui was said to be symmetrical and well poised. Deer hunters express the hope that this fine specimen of ; looally-brcd deer will not bo "poached."
