EDUCATION" BOARDS AND SPECIAL LEGISLATION. "You might as well speak to the winds," declared Mr. J. Q. W. Aitken at tlio Wellington Education Board's meeting yesterday, when the suggestion was raised that the Wellington Board should cooperate with the North Canterbury Board (from whom tlio suggestion cmauuted), in an effort to secure the privilege of consultation when tlio Government contemplated special legislation affecting education boards generally. "1 havo no faith in members of Parliament," ho said. "Of tlio present Parliament?" suggested Mr. A. H. Vile. "Of any Parliament," said Mr. Aitken, with emphasis. "They actually put into the Public Works Act something; which had to do with Wellington Streets." The boord endorsed the suggestion, aad also approved a second suggestion bv the Canterbury Board that "grants should l>o given for assistance in (ho construction of swimming baths."
