Owing to tho enormous crowds in tho streets, processions of suffragettes were brokeu up. Tho processionists were unablo to traverse tho cordon of police guarding Parliament Square. Tho windows of tho Government offices and of the National Liberal Club were smashed. One hundred and fifty arrests wero made. Those arrested include Lady Constance Lytton and Mrs. Pethick-Lawrence. (Rec. November 22, 10.10 p.m.) London, November 22. The suffragettes seized the bridles of tho constables' horses; many chained themselves to railings and lampposts, and were released with difficulty. Those arrested include Miss Billinghurst, a cripple, whoso hands wero lashed to a tricycle. Whilst tho police occupied Parliament Square, well-organised groups of suffragettes engaged in twos and threes in win-dow-smashing, first mixing with tho crowds on the pavements, then suddenly produced stones, hammers, and catapults, and smashed scores of windows in the Government offices, Somerset House, shops, restaurants, post offices, private houses, Whitehall, in Parliament Street, Victoria Street, and the Strand, also Lord Haldano's and Mr. John Burns's private residences, tho "Daily Mail's" headquarters, and the "Daily News" office. The public had many marvellous escapes.
