THE GUEST OF THE NEW ZEALAND CLUB.
Dr. Kumm was the guest yesterday of tho New Zraland Club at luncheon „t the VM.C.i., when Mr. P. C. Freeth presirled. In replying to tho toast of his health, the eminent explorer regaled nis hosts with fjuite a variety of impressions cf Africa, gathered during his travels up and down and across that Land of the Big Things. He had been very greatly impressed, he said, with what ho had seen of New Zealand ami Australia, and. with their interesting possibilities for future greatness anions the nations. Dr. Kumm also referred to the remarkable change of sentiment in Smith Africa sincc the Boer war, where all race hatreds had been extinguished, overshadowed by the united desire •>? former opponents for the advancement of South Amea as a young nation.
