The norlh-wostorly galo, which prevailed last evening, delayed the Patcena, from Picton and Nelson. The. vosse!, after leaving Picton, experienced fair weather until abreast of Sinclair Head, when she ran into the gale, which was accompanied, .by heavy rain. The weather was very thick, but became clear after the vessel got inside Pencarrow. WEATHER ON WEST COAST. At 4 p.m. on Monday the Arahura was able to get into Westport, and left again at 4 o'clock yesterday morning for Grcymoutli. Latest advices state that the weather is moderating, and that the sea on the bars at both ports is going down. It was expected that the Arahura would be able to work Greymouth at 5 p.m. yesterday. ARTEMIS AT AUCKLAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, November 14. An unexpected arrival in tho stream at Auckland to-day was tho Norwegian tramp steamer Artemis, 33 days out from Valparaiso to Sydney. The vessel ran short of coal, and had to come here for supplies. She will proceed on her voyage to-morrow. DELPHIC LEAVES HOME. Tho Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner Delphic, left London on October 21 for Auckland, Wellington, and Blaff, via Capo Town and Hobart. The vessel is duo at Auckland on December 10, and at Wellington on December 2C. TAINUI AT PLYMOUTH. . The Tainui, which sailed from Wellington on October 5, arrived at Plymouth on Sunday evening last. MAMARI AT LIVERPOOL. On Sunday evening last the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Mamari arrived nt Liverpool from Port Chalmers, via Australian ports. ARAWA LEAVES HOME. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company's liner Arawa sailed from l'lymou'h on Saturday last, November 11, for New Zealand, via Cape Town and Hobart. The vessel is expected to arrive here on December 26. THE HABERE. Messrs. Bannatyne and Co., local ogontß for the Marere, advise that the vessel arrived at Melbourne on Monday afternoon, 43 days from London. Tho vessel is expected to reach Wellington in about three weeks' time. THE MIMIRO. On November 1 the liner Mimiro arrived at London from Sydney and Melbourne. After discharge at Home, the Mimiro will proceed to New York, and take berth as an American and Australian liner for Melbourne, Sydney, and New Zealand ports. She is timed to sail about December 16. THE NEW COASTER.

The Patea Shipping Company a new coastal steamer Hawera is stated to be a fino modol, and is of about 2CO tons gross register. She has a carrying capacity of 160 tonß, exclusive of machinery, and, when finally completed, will bo employed in the frozen meat trade betweon Patca and Wellington. Her principal dimensions ore:—Length 112 ft., beam 20ft., and depth Bft. 6in. She is to be fitted with refrigerating machinery, while, her propolling power will consist of compound surface-condensing engines. Tho vessel's plankiDg is kauri, and her keel and kelsons are of iron bark. She has accommodation for six passengers. In a deckhouse under tho bridge amidships are the captain's and officers' nuartcrs. It will bo about a month before the Hawera will be ready to take up her running between this port and Patca.

The Tvser steamer Ncrchana is due back at Wellington from Lyttelton, Napier, and Gisborno about November 20. She will sail four days later for London, in time to catch the January wool sales. Mr. Richardson has rejoined the Stormbird as engineer, in place of Mr. N. Salmon, who is now engineer of the Putiki. The Kanna, from Napier, is not expected to reach Wellington before Thursday. On Friday the Stormbird is to arrive from Wangamni with a load of butter for transhipment into tho Turakina for London. This morning the Kotuku is to arrivo from Now Plymouth to complete discharge of coal. The Koonya is expected <e arrive tomorrow from Timaru. Oamaru, and Dunedin. The vessel will sail on the fame day for New Plymouth, Westport, and Grcymouth. Kowbai. s.s.. now en route from Gisbornc to Grcymouth, will call in at WcUington this evening for bunker coal. Tho Rosamond Is expected to t'om Onahmma to-morrow.

The Takapuma .will take her place, and will leave for Picton and Nelson on Friday at 1 p.m. Mr. J. Watson has joined the Kahu as mate, in place of Mr. A. Running, who signed off the vessel nt Wellington yestcrdas'. Mr. P. Davcy has .joined the Mokoia, as fifth engineer. Mr. .1. Mitchell, third engineer, ion the vessel at Wellington yesterday. Mr. F. Warren signed on the Mokoia as fourth mate at Wellington yesterday. The Nlwaru Is to sail to-day for Brisbane to load for Loudon. Word has been received at Sydney that the Norwegian barnnc Vidylia is seriously overdue at Yap from Westport, and grave fears are entertained for her safety. The vessel; which is an iron ship, built by Russell and Co. at Port Glasgow, lclt Westport. New Zealand, on July 29 last, with a full cargo of coal for tho naval base in the Islands, and. as far as can bo gathered, has not been sighted since. The barque Marjory Glen, formerly a Shaw-Saviil vessel, which eome months ago brought a cargo from Liverpool to Wellington, ie reported (states a southern exchange) to have met with disaster. On September 14 a message from Punta Arenas, Sonth America, stated that the Marjory Glen had caught fire at sea, and was towed to Rio Gallegos. She was likely to become a total loss. Preparations arc being made (according to the Dutch correspondent of tho "Shipping Gazette") for a remarkable towing feat. A largo dock is being built near Amsterdam for the Dutch East Indies, and it happens that a smaller dock ie being built in England for the East Indiss, and also a ship. To save three separate towages, ti is piopoeed to put the ship in the small dock and to put tho two !;'. the large dock, which will be taken to England for the purpose. The unique three-decker will then bo towed to the Bast Indies. Mr. N\ T. Salmon has joined the Putiki as engineer, replacing Mr. Hargrcavcs, who has 6igned on the Moa. Mr. Murphy is now second engineer of tho Putiki. Mr. J. N, Holmes has signed off the Manuka as chief officer and Mr. J. G. May, fourth officer, has also left the vessel. Mr. May [ has joined the Kittawa as third officer. Mr. W. Smith, fourth engineer of the Aorangi, has signed off, and Mr. Scott, late of the Mararaa, has Joined in his stead. Advice has been received (states the "Otago Daily Times") by the Jarraa Timber Company that the American fourmasted barqueutino Makawoli, 821 tons register, was to have left Pugot Sound on October 10 direct for Lvttelton.' The vessel is. bringing over I.OCG.CCDft. of Oregon pine, Laths, and redwood, consigned to the Jarrah Timber Company. The Makaweli is a sister ship to the Kohalo, which visited New Zealand in April last, and is commanded by Captain T. Nielsen.
