At tho American Stato elections, Democratic Governors wero electcd for Kentucky, Massachusetts, and Mississippi, and a Republican Governor for Rliodo Island. A Republican Assembly has been returned for New York State. Previously New York's Democratic majority was twenty-four; the Republicans now havo fifty by a majority. The Socialists secured marked gains in New York and Ohio States.
