HOTEL CENSUS.

BETWEEN 9 AND 10 p.m. On 'Saturday night, October 28, the New Zealand Alliance tool; a "census" of persons leaving forty-seven hotels.between 9 and 10 o'clock. The figures were quoted by the Rev. James Dawson, at tho Rev. 11. B. Hammond's meeting on Tuesday night. They wero as follow :—73M men and 510 women. Of these 2517 wero apparently under the ago of 50 years, and 507 were (so the report alleges) under tho

influence of liquor. It was further staled that 823 persons came out of hotels between 10 p.m. and 10.15 p.m.
